Revamp your closet and feel brand new!
With spring right around the corner, *eyes crying, wind and snow blowing past, while jumping though a puddle of slush ruining my suede booties * the desire to do a wardrobe revamp is ever so appealing, but not financially feasible for most of us. At this point in the year, magazines and websites are showcasing springs trends and colour schemes which makes consumers want to go out and buy for spring, but shopping in your own closet can be an amazing way to cut costs.
Here are some steps to reinventing your wardrobe:
1. Look at your lifestyle. Your job, your hobbies, and the climate in which you live in and establish what necessities you need.
2. Look through magazines with an idea of who you want to be and styles that emulate your personality. Look for styles that are trendy but that also fit your lifestyle.
3. Clean out the clutter. Take everything out of your closet and put aside anything that doesn’t fit properly as well as things you feel are outdated (you may be able to wear them differently or give them to someone who could get better use out of them)
4. When organizing your closet, hang almost everything. (If it falls off the hangar too easily find ways to pin it. You’ll need to see all your options.) Also, hang everything in sequence of colour. You don’t have to put all party dresses together, or all knits together, as reinventing your wardrobe will make you try new multi-textured outfits, and casual wears with dressy items. It will also help you establish what colours you have that are in style and you’ll put different colours schemes together that may not have sparked your eye in previous years. Summer and winter stuff could even mix well as layering and tights can change the warmth of an outfit.
5. This is the time to get creative and think outside the box. Use magazines, movies and even people on the street as inspiration, and emulate (not copy) their look. Put your personal touch on key outfits.
6. Accessorize! Regardless of if you buy a Louis scarf and pair it with a white tee or you buy a $10 studded belt and rock it with a silk dress, mixing and matching price points will always make you look like a million bucks and keep you current with the trends.
Lastly, make sure when you’re mixing and matching your current wardrobe you keep in mind four main categories: Colours, Accessories, Textures and New Combinations. Other factors that can spice up an existing outfit is hair and makeup. Doing your hair differently or wearing more dramatic makeup, can totally change the look of something you’ve been seen wearing in the past.

P.S. Wouldn’t it be dreamy to have closets like these? *sigh, pins picture on vision board* LOL!
