shop: Cheese, Cheese, Cheese
Recently I learnt about the Monforte Dairy Company, and no I don’t mean the Montfort Restaurant chain where you can get a chicken shawarma at 4am.
Â
Monforte Dairy Company is operationalizing the concept of Community Shared Agriculture. This means each and every customer can be part of Monforte’s future by subscribing to one of their three subscription options. So essentially you prepay for your cheese, in one of the following amounts $200, $500, or $1000.00 and receive vouchers for cheese which are valid for five years, or receive baskets delivered to your home at certain intervals during the year for five years starting in 2010. This is a great way to support local farmers at a micro level, and also receive excellent locally produced cheese for years to come.
Â
If you have ever had the Monforte cheese at the St. Lawrence Market, you will know this is a great investment!

I’m trying to figure out how to budget this right now. I’ve heard wonderful things about Montforte and it’s such a great initiative, I’d love to support it. Plus, cheese delivered to my house? Duh!

So great you are considering Beverly, perhaps you can start by supporting a smaller CSA, such as a Food Box from a local farm, if you let me know what area you live in I would be happy to suggest some CSA’s in the vicinity. Toodles!
