Grey Gardens is a story based on the lives of Edith Bouvier Beals and her daughter Edie.  The film is inspired by the original documentary of the same name which was a look into the incredibly interesting and peculiar lives of this eccentric mother daughter duo.  Women who are as close to American Royalty (aunt and first cousin of Jackie O) as you can be, yet a string of bad luck sprinkled with undiagnosed mental illness leaves them living in squaller surrounded by pet raccoons and enough cats to start a colony.  I was so captivated by this movie, Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange totally nailed it!  I even went to watch some of the original on youtube and was blown away at how these actors gave themselves to the roles.

I only have one disclaimer, if you have a weak stomach (like me) don’t watch this over dinner.
