For All Women
My friend Lonie forwarded me this and suggested that I share it with all of you and I’m so happy she did!

Lonie
-A woman dies from pregnancy and labor every minute—the equivalent of five jumbo jets of women dying every day.
-Women around the world don’t need handouts. They need handups. How small loans can help women everywhere stand on their own.
If you go through the site For All Women on oprah.com you will realize how little it takes to change a girls life. You will also realize how lucky we are to have access to things we totally take for granted like Maxi Pads, textbooks and soccer balls. Â The reason why I am posting this is because I truly believe that once you see this you can’t pretend you didn’t and hopefully you will realize (like I did) how easy it is to make a difference in someone’s life.

Today I sent a girl to school for an entire year for $49.00.

I think tomorrow I will invest in a woman’s future with a micro-loan from Kiva.org I’ve already been on the site, I’m just deciding which woman I will help. Â Stay tuned for my choice!
If you can’t help financially right now, there are many other ways you can help which are as simple as spreading the word. Â Add a link on your facebook page or email ‘The Girl Effect‘ video (shown above) to all of your friends.
Spread the word! Â Help a girl.
Thanks for the heads up Lonie!
Is this something you would do or do you have another way to help give back? Â Let us know with a comment.
xoxo,
coco

I was having a conversation with my mother on Sunday regarding your exact same issue/post. This has further strengthened my interest in giving back and helping out in any way that I can. This has given me great ideas and avenues to pursue.

hey girls!
I loved this post! Honestly living the city life gives us the privilege of not having to worry about politics all the time. But when we go to countries where women are SO SO disadvantaged we see what a huge role politics can make in a woman’s life.
I AM A TORONTO CITY GIRL born and raised and this summer i spent 3 months in Rural Kenya teaching. Among the countless things i gained insight to was a woman’s struggle! I won’t ramble on but here’s a blog entry i did about the women i met: http://thejourneyofagemini.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-know-your-hearts-weathered-by-what.html
Thanks so much for reminding women that we need to think about being responsible travelers and global citizens. And even though we are blessed to not have to worry much about politics, it does not mean that the fight for equity for ALL women is over. It’s far from that. Thanks
