I was in Boston last weekend and I have to say it is an incredibly beautiful city! The people are exceptionally friendly, the shopping was good and the nightlife – although casual- was super fun.
I stayed at The Liberty Hotel which -until the last prisoners were moved out in 1991 – was The Suffolk County Jail. I went there the last time I was in Boston and thought it was so cool I just had to try it out. I love old buildings (the house I grew up in was over 100 years old) and am so excited when people can renovate a historical space and still keep some of the authenticity and magic.
The room was decent but the bed was super hard….
My fave part of the room was the ‘do not disturb’ door hangar:
solitary!
My favorite way to get to know a city is to walk it. Here are some pictures from my strolls:
Newbury St
Newbury St is such a pretty place to shop! Think stores like Marc Jacobs, BCBG and Intermix all nestled in beautiful 19th Century Brownstones – gorgeous!
the prettiest parking garage ever!
The Copley Plaza was stunning. As you know I kind of have a thing for lobby bars and The Oak Bar totally stole my heart!
We had dinner on Saturday at Mooo at the hotel XV Beacon. It was deliciously delish and I ain’t no foodie but it was goodie!
mini whoopie pies! yummmm
The whoopie pies were enough to make me want to go back to Boston again and again!
Overall Boston was a blast! I’m so going back in the summer to check out a baseball game and see what the city looks like in full bloom. I have a feeling it’s breathtaking. I didn’t get any pics of it, but if you’re ever in Boston and in the mood for some Italian be sure to check out Scampo in The Liberty and order an Elephant Ear (not what you think)

Me and our newest addition to the Coco & Lowe fam, Shantel, were invited to the media opening of the fourth Blo location in Toronto! I love getting Blo’wn!
Blo offers a hair menu with different styles to choose from and whether you want a wash and blo or just dry styling, they’re able to do it all!
Christina hooked me up with the “Red Carpet Ready” look:
$30 for 30 mins and their products are awesome! I especially love the mint conditioner. It such a great smell and stimulates your scalp with a soft tingle. Check out this video introducing Blo’s team and explaining the entire product line:
Lowe and I along with some Toronto’s most exciting bloggers were asked to be a part of Polysh Magazine’s Spring issue. It was a super fun shoot with some of our favorite people!

I decided to take a last minute trip to Jamaica! The best thing about this vacay is that I will get to experience Jamaica as a local, not a tourist. I’m super excited to share my trip with you through pics and video when I get back on Thursday.
Until then, here’s a video of the equivilent of me channeling my inner child LOL! This song is stuck in my head:
I finally got the chance to check out Gee Beauty the other day and I’m totally in love!! Not only is it aesthetically beautiful, the women who run it are super sweet and the service was beyond!
the Gee ladies
Owned and operated by the family Gee (three daughters and their mother) the vibe is as bright and cherry as the white soaked space. With hysterically clever names for their services like ‘The Houdini’ A.K.A. a brazilian or ‘The Material Girl’ a heart shaped bikini wax, their witty approach to beauty maintenance is fantastic!
the pedicure area 'down-below'
I went for a Houdini and as I walked into their basement (aptly named ‘Down Below’) I was hit with a slight sense of pre-wax trepidation. As I lay down on the relatively comfortable waxing bed my fears were instantly set aside by a few little words stenciled on the ceiling that read:
relax, she’s seen it all before
Talk about icebreaker! My service provider -Michelle- was an absolute professional who by the end of it all felt like an old friend. An old friend with a interesting understanding of my ‘down-below’…
The mission at Gee is to provide efficient, high quality service without wasting your precious time – my fave- because let’s be honest, the spa is fun and all but who has a whole day to devote to it?
Plus they have an amazing selection of products for purchase around their shop like Kate Spade Cosmetic bags and Malin+Goetz skin and hair care.
Gee Beauty gets the coco & lowe stamp of fab-ness!
Lately this super famous quote has been playing over and over in my mind:
“Do the thing of which you’re most afraid”
If you meet me, you might not realize at first blush how extremely shy I am – I try to hide it with a very big laugh and a crooked smile- but I am. Its hard to explain this to people, especially wonderfully outgoing people like my partner Lowe, because if you aren’t uncomfortable in ’small talk’ situations it might come off as very odd. The strangest part about being me, is that I’m far more comfortable getting in front of 1,000 people than I am in front of just one. It’s not so much the ‘one on one’ -I’m not bad at that – it’s the going up to complete strangers and sparking up an interesting, engaging convo.
Since I have finally acknowledged this as a fear, I decided to put that little quote that has been ringing in my head to action. I signed up for a speed networking event put on by FDI which took place at LG Fashion Week. If you followed me on twitter that day you would know that I was sweating buckets and hiding behind my berry – what I usually do at events. But fortunately the event was set up almost exactly like speed dating, one group of people on one side of the table and another group on the other. Every 60 seconds the people on the outside had to move to the next person. I didn’t realize from the onset how perfect a situation this would be for a person like me. If you give me an option I will hide in a corner, but because I was stationed in between two complete strangers under the glaring eye of the officiant or ’speed networking referee’ I was forced to talk to every one of the 50 women that rotated in front of me. What was so amazing about this situation was that 1. I had to learn how to properly describe what I do in 30 seconds or less and 2. I’m a little bit more comfortable talking to people I don’t know AKA ‘networking’. I am constantly in situations that myself and my business could benefit from but hiding behind my phone or my friends will not help my cause.
Even though I am shy, I like rules and I only take very calculated risks, every year I try to do one or two things that totally freak me out to try and push my boundaries and broaden my horizons. Last year Lowe inspired me to take a trip all by myself. I was super stressed and had just made some crazy changes in my life so I though why not? The trip as well as the ’speed networking’ event taught me so much about myself that I was surprised at how fearful I had let myself become. Sometimes when you peel back the layers of fear and anxiety all you are left with are individual small speed bumps that when not all bundled together can be easier to jump over. My suggestion is to make a list of what you are most afraid of and every now and again try to cross just one of them off. You don’t have to do them all at once, but once you do one I promise the rest won’t seem so far fetched!
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!
-FDR
Next up, conquering my fear of being photographed! Lowe is also helping me with this, we will document and share it with you, it’s going to be hilar!
What are you afraid of or is there anything you are scared to do that you feel is totally holding you back?
Last night Lowe and I were some of the lucky few to see New Moon before it officially opened in Canada today. The event was put on by American Express and it was amazing! It took place at The Winter Garden Theatre which perfectly set the stage for this romantic roller coaster! I don’t want to give too much away (and if you’re a die hard fan, you’ve read the books and already know what happens) but the movie was action packed and I’m happy to announce that Bella’s breathlessness was kept to a minimum! I’m still undecided if I’m team Jacob or team Edward though…. Edward sparkles in the sunshine (I love sparkles) and Jacob has a body like a bronzed god! lol He’s not really 16 is he? If he is, I swear I’m not a pedophile… Here are some pics:
