A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of meeting with O.P.I.’s head honchos from Los Angeles to discuss their new collection called Nicole by O.P.I. Nicole was designed for consumers as a less costly alternative to the spa priced regular O.P.I. nail polish and retails in stores like Shoppers Drug Mart ($10.49) and Walmart, among others.
The colours are fancy and fun being directed at teens, but also catering to all types of women wanting to express their personal style. My giftbag included a bunch of colours I’ll definitely be trying!
This silver one reminds me of the costly Minx nails but in a nail polish form!:

Rando Fact: O.P.I. stands for ”Odontorium Products, Inc.” In the early 1980s a dental supply business formulated an acrylic nail product from that background and started out by supplying it to nail salons on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The next day we got a sneak peak at Nicole by O.P.I.’s newest collection coming out this August at Lee Restaurant. The collection is based around the hit t.v. series Gossip Girl. The names are soooo classically OPI - Party In The Penthouse, Nicole…. Spotted and Too Rich For You
So although you weren’t able to join us at the launch, we managed to snag an extra swag bag for one of you lucky readers! The bag is packed with Nicole by OPI nail polish along with a copy of Gossip Girl Season 1 on DVD.

The one day a year that we remember to show our special lady, how much she means to us! & what better than a contest, to do that?
v:space studio has teamed up with local companies and put together SPOIL YOUR MAMA – a Mother’s Day contest where one lucky mama can win a hand-delivered gift basket worth over $400 in goodies – which includes a beautiful flower arrangement sent on behalf of the winner!
The contest deadline is April 30th, and is open to anyone in the GTA. Almost as much fun as picking the dress was picking the cake! I am very lucky to have an amazing friend (read – sister) who just happens to be a culinary genius. Adjoa from prettysweet Custom Cake Creations will not only be joining me on the big day, but she will be making my cake! I met Adjoa for a ‘cake planning consult’ many months ago at one of my favorite lunch spots – Cafe Doria. I, being in the ‘it’s all going to magically just work out’ phase of the planning had not an idea in mind and the only thing I was set on were the David Austen/Cabbage roses that I would be carrying in my bouquet.
Being the magical fairy wizard that she is, Adjoa was able to pry out of me exactly what I didn’t want and within 20 minutes we had a basic idea of what would be the cake!
A raspberry and white chocolate layer cake surrounded by white chocolate tablets that would act as a fortress for roses that would match my bouquet and center pieces. BAM! Just like that I had picked my flowers, my center pieces, my colours AND my cake! See what I mean when I say that Adjoa is a magical fairy wizard?
Later that day she scanned and emailed me a sketch of the concept:

In the spirit of love and all things yummy Adjoa and I decided to do a contest for any of you (in the Toronto Area) who have now become hungry from all of this ‘cake talk’. I love white chocolate and raspberry because it reminds me of birthdays growing up. My parents always worked really hard to make my bdays the best ever and I always felt really special. So every time I take a bite of a white chocolate and raspberry cake I get all giddy and am filled with warmth. Not to mention, prettysweet cooks up a fierce version of my childhood fave! yummmmm!
