event: a to zane has a new location on queen west!

It’s always so great to see your friends’ progress and knowing Zane since the inception of his website (AtoZane.com) to the pop up shop on Queen West  to now having up a place to call his own, makes Coco and I so proud!

Not only did we go to celebrate the launch of his retail store but also to check out the Pop-Up Rimowa luggage shop in the back section of his store.

They look like they’re having an AMAZING brainstorm session under all those light bulbs! LOL! Awesome chandelier

For the love of Chanel and Hermes….

As some of you may know, I have a borderline *healthy* obsession with all things French. So, when I heard about a lady by the name of Catherine B. who owned two vintage Chanel and Hermes boutiques in France, I immediately wanted to know more.

If you ever go to Paris, make sure to stop by Catherine’s store!

Bisous, Winy

Catherine, tell our readers about your boutique…

My Boutique « Les 3 Marches de Catherine B »is situated in the historical St Germain des près neighbourhood in Paris. I took over ownership of the boutique in 1994 and wanted to keep the authentic feel of an old Parisian boutique.

Since the opening of the boutique in 1994, I’ve exclusively sold Chanel and Hermes items.  My role as the boutique owner and curator is to buy vintage or out of stock articles that I love from those two exclusive lines and, sell them to our local and international clientele.

Where do you find these Chanel and Hermes items?

Contrary to warehouses, I buy the items that I’m interested in, in cash from clients who visit my boutique. Over the years, our reputation has been built by establishing relationships with famous and everyday clients. Because my items are of very high quality, we’ve built a strong reputation; most of our references are word to mouth.

People who own Chanel or Hermes items trust the authenticity of the products we sell and buy.

How did you become so passionate about Chanel and Hermes?

Passion kind of just comes to you before you realize it. I’ve always loved the luxurious feel and touch of a Hermes scarf. To me, the most beautiful bag ever created for women is the Kelly bag by Hermes.

The chic and luxury craftsmanship of Chanel, combined with Karl Lagerfeld’s genius is astonishing. I just really love beautiful, well-made pieces.

How can one tell between a fake and a real Chanel or Hermes item?

I’ve been doing this for over twenty years and I’m able to recognize the difference because of my extensive knowledge. You can tell a fake by the way it is made, the year of fabrication and the fabrication codes. The problem with fakes is that they always reproduce the most well-known pieces but they forget that you can tell the difference with the quality.  You can’t duplicate hours and hours of hard work and the French “savoir faire” and talent are impossible to reproduce.

What kind of items are found in your online boutique?

We are re-vamping our online boutique. We want it to become more user friendly and showcase a more elaborate version of the actual stock available in our physical store.  The online store will resemble our actual physical store.

We have an international clientele, so, our deliveries are worldwide.

Customizable iPhone Cases

As you know, I LOVE monogram anything and customizable whatevers, so when looking for an iPhone case I enlisted the help of google to find some fun ideas.

I decided on getting this personalized chevron iphone case from dani notes on Etsy with my initials on it:

The ordering process was really simple and it came quite quickly.  You’re able to pick from a bunch of patterns and design combinations to make it unique to you.  It cost around $55.00 and is available for iPhone 3 & 4.

But almost as soon as it came in the mail I discovered Casetagram.  On this site you can choose some of your favorite shots from your Instagram feed and have them printed on your very own iphone case.  So cool!

I played around and made this one:

I do feel like it would take me forever to actually finally pick one because I would always want to add one more picture and take another out.  Super fun though!

Casetagram cases will cost you $34.95 and for the next little while have free international shipping!

ben sherman opens on queen west this saturday!

Although I can’t confirm whether or not the mustach-io-ed man pictured above will be in attendance, I CAN confirm that the first hundred people through the doors on Saturday at the Grand Opening of Ben Sherman on Queen West will receive a FREE pair of chinos!

I’d say it’s worth a visit regardless.

The store is the first of it’s kind in Canada and will debut a bunch of cool new concepts including a ‘shirt bar’ where a ‘shirtilier’ will be available to help you male readers of Coco & Lowe (or you female reader’s significant others) to find the perfectly fitted shirt.

Ben Sherman, 734 Queen St West, Toronto
