For The Home
Pavina double walled glasses by Bodum
I’m so obsessed with these cups. They are good for hot or cold drinks, but I personally love them for the 100 cups of tea I drink a day. They are so pretty and keep my freezing hands warm. They come in every size from espresso to beer tumbler.
Available at Davids Tea, Ashley’s or online HERE
COFFEE TABLE BOOKS
Every home needs a few coffee table books and although the thought may seem strange as a gift, I believe them to be one of the best gift ideas. Think about it, how often do you pop into chapters and pick up a book that usually costs over $50. Because of the expense and size I usually leaf through them while in the store but never actually commit. Coffee Table books are great gifts because they act as decor in your home and become an expression of your taste. When I walk into a home with a massive Vanity Fair or Richard Avedon book I know I like the hosts already. Because people don’t typically buy these types of books for themselves on a regular basis you can use this as a chance to let your friend know you’ve been listening and you know exactly what kind of book screams their name. Here are a few that I want, but your best bet is to go and check out the selection at your local bookstore. Chances are there’s a beautiful book with your friends name all over it!
The Allure of Beauty:
Available in Toronto at Teatro Verde and online HERE or HERE
Vanity Fair, The Portraits:
I was at Chapters the other day and saw a very stylish woman purchasing 4 of these. I was intrigued, took a look and was very impressed. Beautiful book. Buy online HERE
I’m really not a super fan of bar soap. I find it dry and I don’t like how it gets all gucky after awhile. With that being said I LOVE Claus Porto soaps not as much for function but rather for their beauty! I love seeing them in peoples washrooms and never ever want to open them. This may seem like a frivolous gift, but it is another example of a luxurious thing for the home that most people love to look at but would never buy for themselves. Indulge one of your friends who loves a beautiful home with a box set of Claus Porto soaps.
Plus if you actually want to use them they are made from Mango butter to help heal damaged and dry skin. Maybe I should get crazy and open one up one of these days….

Pops: A Life of Louis Armstrong by Terry Teachout.
Being touted as THE definitive biography of musical genius Louis Armstrong, Pops would be an excellent gift for any true music lover because as legendary drummer Gene Krupa says of Armstrong:
“No band musician today on any instrument, jazz, sweet or bebop, can get through 32 bars without musically admitting his debt to Armstrong. Louis did it all, and he did it first.”
Nothing better than learning from the past to better your future!

I have a ton of parties to attend this year and though I’m super excited, the idea of bringing every host a bottle of Pino Grigio bores me to tears. I was talking to my friend Adj about my predicament and she shared her brilliant solution with me. COOKIE BOXES!!! Easy to travel with, customizable, affordable, cute and most importantly delicious! Problemo solved!
If you have staff or work in an office and need to buy a bunch of gifts, cookie boxes are a great alternative to smelly soaps or run of the mill Ferrero Rocher (sorry Roch, you’re good and all but freshly baked cookies are betta). Because they are fully customizable you can have your host/co-worker’s names written on the box in icing or alternatively a festive saying or design. It just gives the whole gift giving bonanza a personal touch!
