The bedroom is one room you can indulge – It will give you the pleasure of sound sleep if choose the right beds for your small space paired with the proper placement of furniture. Bright colors provide a more spacious feel rather than dark colors, giving the sense of large space. If you have a small bedroom, then try these ideas to make your bedroom spacious :
The Walls – Select shades that are relaxing at night and refreshing in the day.
The Lighting - Install lighting close to your bed – Not only will they be easier to maintain, you will gain the feeling of more space. Also, use accent, ambient and fluorescent lighting as they create soothing and refreshing atmosphere.
The Bed - Don’t get too carried away in the furniture store, always try to buy a bed with accurate measurements, which can suit doorway and stair case dimension to make sure that you will actually able to get it into the room. Try out a Platform, Murphy or Futon bed in a small bedroom as they make the room look spacious.
The Storage – Try out a bed with its own storage built-in, this is a huge space saver. This will become extremely useful when you are short of storage. Try out storage above the bed and recessed open shelves into walls for placing decorative items without taking up extra space.
Other notables:
Consider fitting sliding door rather than hinged door.
Place the furniture at an angle of the wall as it helps in making room look bigger.
Apply light colors for floors.
Mount television on the wall as it saves space.
Keep the colors of your curtains or blinds similar to the walls.
Use decorative mirrors on walls to get a feeling of free space.
Try to use folding bedroom furniture or modular bedroom furniture.
Minimize the use of floor to ceiling cabinets/armories.
Since I’ve been in Scotland, the views have been surreal and hard to capture in a picture. The layers of buildings, hills, greenery and skies have made for a few great shots.

What I woke up to this morning in Dundee, Scotland:
I have always been a fan of Cameron Diaz, I find her to be extremely personable even though never actually meeting her. Her smile and authenticity shine through her movie roles and on the cover of some of the greatest magazines (*cough* Bazaar, I heart you!).
Oh yeah and she’s absolutely beautiful!
She lands the cover of Bazaar US for August 2010 and inside she talks about friends, love, wine and working alongside her ex. Terry Richardson shot the cover and controversy or not, I absolutely love his work!!! (Terry you can shoot me any day; just name the time and place!!)
One great quote that Cameron mentioned in response to people/media talking about her and her life was…
“I’m not going to spend my energy worrying about that. I’m just going to live my life, because I know who I am, what I’m doing, and who I’m doing it with.”
I thought those were great words to live by. No matter where you are… you can always feel like you’re living in a nutshell and that eyes are all around you; but always be confident in who YOU are no matter what!
Cameron’s hot bod + Terry’s amazing photos + Bazaar’s amazing articles, should be in stores now!
