daily Detox Diva diary! day 10/11

As our Isaginix cleanse comes to an end, I’ve learned a few things about myself, food, portions, and coaching.

Here are the 10 things I’ve learned while on the 11-day Isagenix cleanse:

1. Eating a “whole” of anything is NOT OK. Including the cake our talented friend Adjoa from prettysweet is waiting ’til after the cleanse to de-thaw for me…MMmmmmm

2. Tea makes you pee, and so does 2 litres of water…15 times a day? A OK!! Coco and I went to get organic, decaffeinated tea at tealish (off of queen w) and I have to say, I have started to embrace tea after buying some from that awesome store!

3. I think I’m lactose intolerant. No milk for 10 days and my waist feels smaller than ever!

4. Eating more than once or twice a day (my previous habit) is so fun! Healthy snacks all day…YAY!!

5. I realize I drink way too much alcohol. Drinking should be a luxury not a daily activity, in my life anyway.

6. Sleeping is GREAT! I never used to get proper hours of sleep. So much can be accomplished between 8am-12pm!!

7. Exercise is FUN!! I used to think I was tired bc I didn’t sleep when really, you can sleep less if you exercise more!! Dance, even in your room, until you sweat. Hit the gym, take a vigorous walk, swim, skate, ski….whatever, just MOVE IT!! (I want a hula hoop LOLZ)

8. Having the Detox Divas as coaches helped in having someone to turn to for answers and also to get you through your cravings and headaches. Words from the wise: Apple w almond butter and tea cures all!

9. Fruit satisfies sugar cravings far more than pop or sweets.

10. Routine is ok. I used to hate routine, but it definitely keeps you on track so I’ve embraced it!

I really didn’t think I’d get through the cleanse without cheating but at the end of the day if you cheat you’re only letting yourself down. I highly suggest doing the Isagenix cleanse through Detox Divas because they’ll guide you through every step!!

Here I am again.  Sorry we didn’t post yesterday about the cleanse…..

The way this particular cleanse works is, 7 days out of the 11 you can have 2 shakes + one 600 calories meal and some snacks like carrots, a few almonds and an apple.  On 4 of the 11 days you just drink this juice that isn’t nasty, but isn’t delicious.  The good thing is that those four days aren’t back to back, just two at a time which makes it more manageable.  For us, those days fell on Thurs and Fri.  Thursday was tough, we were hungry and sleepy, but Friday I was fine.  I worked out in the morning as usual, played some jedi mind tricks on my hand that kept trying to reach for a Cheese String, and went about my day.

By Friday Eva had already lost 3 pounds!!  I don’t have a scale, so I’ll let you know on Monday when I weigh in at the gym.  Overall this cleanse/detox has been great for me personally to clearly take stock of what my body needs and all of the extras I have been putting into it.  I really don’t mind the shakes and not having to think about what I’m going to get for lunch saves a lot of time and money.  I might even consider continuing having the shakes during the week after this cleanse is over because it really is quite convenient, taking the guess work out of being healthy.

Another positive about this cleanse is the coaching.  Eva and I are doing it together, but we don’t have all of the answers to questions like “why do I have a headache” or “what can I do if I’m tired”.  The beauty of Isagenix is that even if you are doing it alone or with friends you have your own personal coach that you can email or call when you need advice or encouragement.  They are super resourceful and really helpful!  Our coaches, Bhargavi and Shruti have been soooo helpful.  Unlike fad cleanses like ‘the grapefruit diet’ or the ‘Master Cleanse’ there is someone to talk to who has been through it, knows what you’re going through and knows what to do so you get the maximum benefit.

daily Detox Diva diary: day 2

Day 2 was ok but I was really trying to keep my mind off of SUGAR!!! I crave sugar all day everyday and my only substitution are the little Isa-snacks which taste like hot chocolate powder. They are pretty satisfying but I think the hardest thing to get used to is portions. I could go to One or the FourSeasons bar and eat a whole plate of those yummy nuts and cheesy snacks. I actually did that at my Last Supper, but on this 1200 calorie a day cleanse it teaches you restraint. You seriously think about eating and what your next fix will be. It makes you plan ahead and map out your intake for the day which gets you excited about the smallest things, like 4 almonds. LOL!

Last night I went to Four for dinner and ran into Coco!!

This restaurant is designed so that every item on the menu is under 650 calories! Some mains are 400 calories and the apps are 100-300 which means I made sure to get two courses. I had a miso salad as my appetizer and salmon spaghetti as my main, all under 600 calories: Amazing! Coco had the chicken meatball rigatoni and mentioned it was pretty satisfying and that she was full.

Yummmyyy!!!

Yummmyyy!!!

We’ll keep you posted as to how our actual “Cleanse Days” go which will be today and tomorrow.

Eeek…I’m scarred…

daily Detox Diva diary: day 1.5

lowe drinking her isagenix shake in a wine glass... if u gotta do it, make it classy! LOL

Doing great so far.  I think it’s mostly mental.  Its not that I’m calorie deficient or that I’m not getting the proper nutrients because the two shakes, snacks and 600 calorie meal cover that, its just the idea of drinking a meal rather than chewing it.

Here are some pros and cons so far:

PROS

1. have drank the most water I have ever drank in my life

2. ate dinner at 7:30 which is the earliest I have ever eaten dinner in a year

3. went to bed at 11:30 which is again the earliest I have slept in forever AND I fell asleep. It usually takes me an hour and a half to fall asleep…

4. I’m learning how it feels to really ingest 1200 calories… I’ve been lying to myself, thinking I was doing just that up until now..

5. I was able to do my regular kick ass workout with my trainer and had energy after!

CONS

1. sleepy

2. hungry

Our friends over at Detox Divas have set us up with an 11-day cleanse and will be coaching us through every step of the way.
