If you haven’t already heard, this Thursday, June 10th, The Remix Project is throwing a huge charity event raising funds to keep the organization afloat throughout the school year. Last year’s donations contributed to finding a new space, renovations costs and new equipment to keep current with the times.

We are so excited for this year’s event and have so many things to offer those who attend. The silent auction table will be full of top notch finds like Beats By Dre, iPAD, Blue Jays tickets, Prizepacks by Moroccan Oil and Nicole by O.P.I., bikes, computer software and games, and much much more!!

Last year, we surpassed our $40,000 event goal and raised close to $50,000!! It just shows that every dollar helps, so make sure to come out, have a drink, bid on some items at the silent auction table and dance the night away surrounded by peers, media personalities and maybe even some celebs–You never know who will stroll through!!

Next Thursday – June 10 – we are hosting the second annual ‘Give Money Make Change’ event to help raise funds to keep Remix alive.  Last year a lot of you were instrumental in helping this fantastic organization stay alive and we are hoping that you will indulge us one more time *winkie face*

Here’s a little refresher about Remix and the Give Money Make Change

“I think one of the key reasons Remix has been so successful is that we really listen to and invest in, some of the most vulnerable but gifted young people in the GTA. One of the most reward things is to see our young people achieve dreams that they previously thought to be impossible” said Executive Director, Gavin Sheppard. ”Producing award-winning DJ’s, clothing lines, music composers and producers as well as photographers, graphic designers and budding journalists, The Remix Project is helping to mature and evolve the next generation of creative and civic leaders in this beautiful city named Toronto. That being said, we are in a really hard place this year financially and this amazing program that we pour ourselves into every day, is genuinely in danger of having to close it’s doors…”

With a $100,000 goal, The Remix Project hopes its fundraising event will save the program.  GIVE MONEY, MAKE CHANGE (part 2) will be a multi-faceted event including photography and visual arts installations, performances, a silent auction and a pledge-driven dance

A week has gone by since we raised approximately $50, 000 for The Remix Project Charity. I can’t stop looking through the pictures of the picnic and reception/event to see how many great people came together to help this amazing program stay alive!

So we are still waiting for a few auction items to be picked up and paid for, but as of right now last night we raised just over $30,000.00!!!!! WOW!  I must say I feel like one proud mama and I just wanna cry tears of joy and clap and scream Hercules! Hercules!!  I am speechless!  

We will be posting pics very soon.  Yesterday was the longest day ever for Lowe and I, so when we recover we will be back on track- just had to give you guys a quick update!

I don’t know if you are all realizing the impact this Give Money Make Change event is going to have on the entire GTA!

Mayor Miller has twittered about this event.

Toronto Star and Metro have written amazing articles on this event.

MTV is on board as our official Media Sponsor for this event.

The Auction is looking CRAZY for this event. 

I went out last night and the response I got from people whom I reminded to come out tomorrow was INSANE! Veterans to the game (of life) only wish they had a program like this growing up with no real guidance and assistance. Young’ins are taking this program seriously and prefer to be in the Remix environment than other work/co-op/volunteer environments. Celebrities are event paying the $25 entrance fee to attend this event and have no problem with it! You are all helping make a difference!!!

If you would like to attend the reception in order to take part in the silent auction, you are most welcome to join us at Circa between 6-9 to bid on items you may want. 

We have sports memorabilia including a signed Lebron James Jersey as well as a Chris Bosh Jersey, soccer memorabilia (FC / Houston Dynamo) Dresses by Brazen hussy and CC Designes, LG Phones, Gym Memberships, Restaurant and Clothing Gift Certificates, an Epiphone Acoustic Guitar, XBOX, and a ton of other prizes!!

Seriously, bring cash and bring your Checkbooks because after you see the art of talented Remix Graduates, you will be blown away by the program and the whole Remix Project Movement!
